Heat Pump Adoption in France – Rob & Trudy’s Experience
Background
Rob and Trudy, residents of Brittany, France, had been using an oil boiler to heat their pool, incurring high costs and facing inefficiencies due to fluctuating weather conditions. They decided to explore alternative heating options and opted for a heat pump solution from ESP. They were looking to achieve cost savings, energy efficiency, and the ability to maintain a comfortable pool temperature even during adverse weather conditions.
Challenge
The challenge for Rob and Trudy was to find a heating solution that could effectively and efficiently heat their pool, reduce operating costs, and withstand the unpredictable weather conditions of Brittany.
Solution
After consulting with a supplier, Rob and Trudy decided to invest in a 19kw heat pump and installed it with an energy monitor to track costs. The pump was capable of maintaining their pool at a comfortable temperature of 26 degrees Celsius, higher than what they achieved with their previous oil boiler. Despite the challenging weather conditions, the heat pump performed admirably, averaging just €3.50 per day in operating costs. This represented a significant reduction compared to their previous annual expenditure of €1800 on oil.
Outcome
Rob and Trudy’s investment in the heat pump yielded promising results. Even with the adverse weather conditions, they projected an annual running cost of just over €400 for a four-month swimming season, a substantial decrease from their previous expenses. They were delighted with the performance and efficiency of the heat pump, leading to increased interest from acquaintances with pools who sought similar solutions.
What Rob & Trudy had to say
“We are delighted with our ASHP supplied by ESP – it has not only saved us money but has reduced our environmental impact too.”
